UP Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana 2022

Uttar Pradesh government has launched a new Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana for the fishermen community. These 2 new schemes will run in the financial year 2022-23 to benefit 17 sub-castes of the fishermen community in the state. Along with the UP Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in the Uttar Pradesh budget 2022-23, another scheme named UP Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Yojana has also been launched. These schemes will benefit those fishermen who have faced loss of traditional sources of income and livelihood.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Budget 2022-23, the state has made an initial provision of Rs 4 crore for two new schemes, Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme. Both these schemes are fully funded by the state government. There are new schemes for the benefit of the people who have been given pattas for ponds in Gram Sabhas. The MMSY and NBSY schemes will increase fish production in the state and, more effectively, double the income of all those who have been allotted leases for ponds in gram sabhas, including lease holders from the fishermen community who are poor. and constitute 3-4% of the state’s population.

About UP Chief Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana

The UP Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana or MMSY scheme was earlier promised in the BJP’s election manifesto for the 2022 assembly elections and now the allocation for the same has been made. Under the Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, which is a new scheme for the fishermen community, there are two projects in the Gram Sabhas to benefit the poor and backward lease holders of the community. It also aims to increase fish production in ponds in rural areas.

Under the Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, the state government will set up 100 fish seed banks in the first year on those ponds which have been improved through convergence under MGNREGA in Gram Sabhas and for which leases have been issued. Over 500 such banks will be set up in the next 5 years.

UP Chief Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana Subsidy Amount

The UP state government will give 40 percent grant on the investment made by the lease holders in the first year on such ponds. Against the input cost of Rs 4 lakh, the state government will provide a subsidy of Rs 1.6 lakh, which is 40% of the total input cost. The UP Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana scheme will benefit leaseholders for ponds in 500 hectares in the first year and 2,500 hectares in five years.

Establishment of seed banks will ensure availability of good quality fish seed for many fish species at the local level. Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana is different from Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana which covers ponds on private land. UP Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana covers ponds on Gram Sabha land.

About UP Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme

The UP Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Yojana or NBSY scheme was promised in the BJP’s election manifesto for the 2022 assembly elections and now the allocation for the same has been made. Uttar Pradesh Budget 2022-23 has approved a provision of Rs 2 crore for Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme which is mainly for 17 sub-castes under “fisherman” community which includes the following:-

In addition, poor people belonging to the scheduled caste category can also be covered under the Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme.

Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme Subsidy Amount

Under the Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme, the UP state government will provide subsidy to buy boats and fishing nets. A subsidy of Rs 28,000 (which is 40% of the per unit cost) will be provided for a boat costing Rs 50,000 and a boat costing Rs 17,000 (total cost Rs 67,000).

Beneficiaries of UP Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme

The Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme will cover 1,500 lease holders in gram sabhas every year, thus benefiting a total of 7,500 people in five years. This, while on one hand will check illegal fishing and loss of revenue to the state government, on the other hand, more and more people of the fishing community will be encouraged to come forward to protect the fishery resources of the state.
