Chief Minister’s Health Scheme for merger with AB-MMJAY

Mukhyamantri Swasthya Beema Yojana (MSBY) was a health insurance scheme of Jharkhand which was launched on 15 November 2017. The Jharkhand state government had implemented the health insurance scheme from 28 December 2017 to provide health insurance coverage to the residents of the state. The MSBY scheme provided benefits to about 57 lakh families of the state which were covered under the National Food Security Act. The government was providing free and cashless treatment to the poor families under the scheme.

In the earlier MSBY Jharkhand scheme, the state government did not take any premium amount from the poor people, the entire premium was borne by the government. Treatment under Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana was made available to all government hospitals and private health institutions. The government had also listed popular and renowned hospitals and nursing homes in its borderline and neighboring states for free and cashless treatment under the scheme.

The state government was providing health insurance coverage under the MSBY scheme to the residents of the state, especially the families from the economically weaker section of the society. Under the scheme, a provision of Rs 50,000 was made for secondary care, Rs 2 lakh for special care and Rs 30,000 for senior citizens from an additional covered category. The government had provided health cards to Jharkhand MSBY beneficiaries and the entire system was cashless. The MSBY scheme was of great help especially for the residents of the state, who are not able to afford the costly treatments today.
